GEO Careers

It would seem there is little understanding of professions within the built environment and few young people aspire to a career in this important sector of the British and global economy. It is with this serious skills shortage in mind that GEO Careers was born.

The Aim

Working alongside Alison Watson MBE from Class of Your Own (COYO), we have together developed a full day of enticing activities and presentations for Year 11-13 students age 16-19, with the aim of demonstrating just how exciting the geospatial industry is, why they should choose a ‘geo’ career path and what opportunities are available to them now, and in the future.

GEO Students

The programme consists of several talks from leading industry professionals, highlighting their own careers, experience and expertise. Students will learn about the geospatial technology that is rapidly transforming the Built Environment. They will see how the knowledge and skills they are learning in the classroom are used in real life.

Furthermore, they’ll have the chance to network with a raft of employers, all searching for Britain’s dynamic digital talent.

Supported by industry and academia alike, the highly respected, award winning ‘Design Engineer Construct!’ (DEC!) learning programme integrates the technical areas of sustainability, architecture, surveying, engineering and construction providing excellent career pathways for young people in secondary schools across the UK.
