Tell us a bit about your company

3Dsurvey was founded in 2011 by 3 land surveyors, Tomaž Izak, Marko Mesarič and Vid Peterman. It was born out of a need to reduce the amount of time spent in the field, and to supplement their traditional land surveying methods. They determined photogrammetry to be the most viable option, and started to develop software which would be compatible with drone technology.

The first version of the software focused on orthophoto and point cloud creation. Wanting to take the capabilities of the software further, they started using photogrammetry to build 3D models. Over 10 years later, 3Dsurvey is positioned as one of the leading providers of photogrammetry software worldwide.

Our easy-to-use tools are suitable for professionals in multiple industries, from land surveying to construction to surface mining and more. Built as an all-in-one platform, you can go from processing your data to exporting your deliverables with the help of only one software. We provide centimeter-grade precision and accuracy to help you achieve the best results possible.

3Dsurvey is undergoing a full revamp! We are busy building a brand new website and approach to how users can engage with our software. The much anticipated 3.0 version which will be released in the upcoming months, will introduce 3Dsurvey modules for users to add-on to the software on a pay as you need basis. This approach will allow users to choose the additional functionalities they need.

We’ve developed an advanced Lidar and RTK Videogrammetry module for users to combine additional data inputs with their drone surveying data. The Lidar module will allow users to import semi processed Lidar data into 3Dsurvey to achieve desired end results. Even photogrammetrists will be able to benefit from these modules as there are cross-over features in each module. At this point, 3Dsurvey will be the only software on the market not charging thousands for this functionality and integration.

Along with the introduction of modules, version 3.0 will also welcome a new comprehensive coordinate pre-set system which promises to simplify the workflow for all users. In addition to the default pre-sets, users will also have the ability to import PRG/WKT files to define specific coordinate systems if needed. 3Dsurvey is proud to be able to offer this kind of comprehensive support for all countries, as it saves users the difficulty and confusion of knowing the exact horizontal and vertical systems for their projects.

What are you most looking forward to at GEO Business 2024?

This is the first year that we will be presenting at GEO Business on the Surveying & Mapping Stage. Our QA Manager, Matija, will be presenting about using photogrammetry for solar panel installation planning.

We recently held a webinar on this topic which was incredibly well received and well attended. We are hoping for the same kind of positive reaction and feedback from attendees of the event.

We are looking forward to meeting up with our international partners and customers since GEO Business last year. We are also eager to find out more about new hardware on the market that we would need to integrate, specifically SLAM and other mobile mapping devices.
