What’s next for the industry?

The increased take up and use of technology in general to minimise people going to site and/or placing themselves in at risk situations. Then making better use of the “richer and easy to use data” this provides to model, analyse and make better decisions on asset condition often times from the comfort of one’s chair off site.


What key trends, technology, regulations etc do you think will have the biggest impact in the coming year? 

Well using robust and reliable wireless like Senceive’s of course…! But seriously, in reality it will be about using a range of technologies including wireless for more frequent monitoring, but integrated together with a wide range of other technologies like Satellite/UAV/Scanners that cover wider geographical areas for example but are less frequent, that will provide a more complete picture to aid prediction of assets life.


What are you looking forward to at GEO Business?

Meeting the great and the good….and everyone else as well…..

How important is the show to you and the sector?

It’s the go-to event without question in the UK for the geospatial world…as an exhibitor and as a delegate/attendee


What hot topics do you think visitors/delegates should investigate?

Wireless/Intelligence/Event Triggering/IoT/Integrating different technologies


How did you get in to the profession?

An invite from a Director at UCL (University College London) to invest in and run Senceive


What’s the most challenging aspect of your job? And the most rewarding?

The two are inextricably intertwined….Having run a few quite different businesses in the past its about providing the right environment for people to succeed by  balancing the mix of creating a sense of direction , being hands on when required and then standing back and empowering people to take responsibility and  make their own decisions….and  the reward is easy …it’s seeing hugely successful outcomes like amazing new products, highly motivated employees  and clients who simply think we are great!!


Who or what inspires you to be even better?

What I said above is not something that you do one day and then forget about it…it needs to happen day in day out……It may sound a bit corny but I and the team at Senceive genuinely strive to be the best in the world, and lead the way in products and innovation but also to be relentless in supporting our customers whatever it takes …that inspires me every day……


What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Never give up!


Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know

I love watching England rugby/skiing and sailing catamarans in a force 5….and for me the best fun you can have is being with your mates/family/friends doing one and ideally all of the above!!…maybe not all on the same day though….
