Every year, disasters around the world claim nearly 100,000 lives and affect or displace more than 200 million people. Many of the places where these crises occur are literally missing from maps, leaving first responders without the information they need to make fast, effective decisions.
Missing Maps is an open, collaborative initiative working to change that. By contributing to humanitarian mapping, you help ensure that organisations on the ground have accurate geographic data to support vulnerable communities. The Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) supports community mapping projects globally and empowers local communities to create their own maps for socio-economic development and disaster preparedness.
Join us for this mapathon, using MapSwipe and contribute to ongoing Missing Maps projects. No prior experience is required – just curiosity, willingness to learn, the desire to make a real impact and MapSwipe free app on your mobile. https://mapswipe.org/en/index.html
